Taxi is playing an unique and important role
in the transportation system in Hong Kong, carrying
1,300,000 passengers a day. It provides citizens
and tourists with personalized point-to-point
transportation services. Last year and January
this year, the Quality Taxi Services Steering
Committee successfully implemented various quality
taxi service programmes, including the Taxi
Driver Award Scheme and the Taxi Service Quarterly
Newsletter, and the Quality Taxi Services Forum.
I appreciate very much the guest speakers who
freely shared their valuable experiences in
the industry at the forum. Hong Kong is a city
of vitality and energy. In order to be in line
with the development of the society, it is important
to improve the quality of taxi services and
to enhance the competence and customer service
spirit of the taxi drivers. The Transport Department
is ready to work in this direction in partnership
with the taxi trade.

The Quality Taxi Services Forum held on 10 January
this year is the first one among similar activities
held in Hong Kong. The successful launching of
the Quality Taxi Services Forum is attributed
to the sponsorships by Crown Motors Limited and
Dao Heng Finance Limited. I would like to express
my hearty thanks to the efforts of the all staffs
and the support from fellow taxi drivers. The
Quality Taxi Services Forum is a rare opportunity
for the Hong Kong taxi industry to discuss the
new ideas of quality taxi services in Hong Kong.
